Dr. Chang is a board-certified Ob/Gyn and fellowship-trained urogynecologist. A urogynecologist is a type of OB/GYN surgical subspecialist in pelvic reconstructive surgery. A urogynecologist offers treatment on a variety of pelvic floor disorders, such as pelvic organ prolapse, urinary disorders (urinary incontinence, voiding dysfunction, incomplete bladder emptying), genitourinary fistulas. Dr. Chang also offers treatment for conditions which require reconstructive surgery, such as congenital anomalies (vaginal agenesis, vaginal septum), acquired conditions (radiation complications, labial hypertrophy) and gender-affirming surgeries (hysterectomy, salpingo-oophorectomy, complete vaginectomy, orchiectomy, clitoroplasty and urethroplasty).

Dr. Olivia Chang, MD, MPH, FACOG, is a female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgeon, also known as a urogynecologist. She is a board certified Ob/Gyn and a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Urology at UC-Irvine. She received her medical doctor degree from Tulane University School of Medicine and her master’s in public health at Mount Sinai School of Medicine. She completed her OB/GYN residency at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center/Harvard Medical School followed by a fellowship in Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery at the Cleveland Clinic. Prior to joining UC-Irvine, Dr. Chang was an Assistant Professor at the University of Washington at the Pelvic Health Center.

Dr. Chang is committed to ensuring that all patients have access to high-quality treatment for pelvic organ prolapse, urinary issues, and those with congenital or acquired conditions that require vaginal reconstruction. When patients see her in the office, they will be welcomed with kindness and patience. It can feel isolating to have pelvic floor disorders, so she takes the time to ensure they are educated on their condition and the treatment options. Her goal is to help them overcome these conditions and help them live the life that they want. She believes in individualized, patient-centered care. She will work closely with every patient to identify the problems and offer evidence-based solutions based on their wishes.

Dr. Chang has extensive non-surgical and minimally invasive surgical training for the treatment of pelvic organ prolapse, urinary incontinence and pelvic reconstructive surgeries. She offers surgical vs non-surgical options and mesh vs non-mesh options for treatment. In addition, she provides uterine-preservation prolapse surgeries (no-hysterectomy) in addition to hysterectomy at the time of prolapse procedures. Her surgical repertoire is expansive, she can perform surgeries of all modalities – vaginal, laparoscopic or robotic surgeries.

Dr. Chang offers numerous office procedures, including diagnostics and treatment. Diagnostic testing includes cystoscopy (looking inside your bladder) and advanced bladder testing (simple or complex urodynamics). For procedures, she offers pessary fitting, office chemodenervation/bladder Botox, urethral bulking injection, peripheral tibial nerve stimulation, peripheral nerve evaluation for sacral neuromodulation and pelvic floor Botox/trigger point injections.
